Responsible Gaming

Responsible Gaming refers to a set of policies and requirements applicable to those involved in the gaming industry. The goal is to ensure that the highest quality standards are met and to provide a safe user experience, protecting people from potential negative consequences that may result from gaming activities. Based on the assumption that gambling should be considered as a hobby, a way of having fun and not as a means of generating income, the interested parties, i.e. online operators and software providers, are obliged to respect the principles of gambling responsible in accordance with the relevant regulations. The General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling is in charge of regulating the gambling sector in our country, through the control of the Guidelines to which each concessionaire and operator is subject by law to obtain the 2.0 certification.

The objective is to combat illegal games of chance and promote responsible gaming and free games here activities regulated by national regulations. All gaming platforms also adopt the Letter of Service for remote gaming issued by the DGOJ with the aim of assuring players of a responsible gaming environment. The online gaming platforms and online casinos certified by the DGOJ are committed to implementing Responsible Gaming, since it is one of the legal requirements set by the DGOJ and they have policies and tools that allow the player to maintain maximum control about their level of play and spending. Many gaming sites are also required to disclose information about special organizations dealing with gaming addiction. Responsible gaming, with all the information and tools related to it, always occupies an important part in the pages of any online casino. The protection of vulnerable players is one of the most important areas of responsible gaming.

In fact, some people can develop gambling addiction problems that, from simple fun, become an obsession that can affect their work, emotional and social life. Among-st other measures put in place to protect the vulnerable player, there are limits on the amount of money and time you can spend on a gaming site. In the first case, each player, before starting to bet, has the possibility of setting a predetermined amount per month or linked to a particular game to put a limit on the possible loss of sums of money resulting from gambling activity. In the second case, he can insert a time parameter for the duration of the session that prevents him from wasting hours and hours behind a game and helps him keep track of the daily time spent playing.

The law expressly prohibits games of chance for persons who have not reached the age of majority. For this reason, online gambling operators regulated by the DGOJ must adopt the necessary measures to guarantee that minors do not access the gambling activities that take place on their websites. To do this, they must introduce clear registration procedures for all players and adopt mandatory age verification procedures for players. Specifically, gaming operators adopt real-time verification tools to prevent minors from opening a gaming account, and through the collaboration of the DGOJ they carry out a double verification of the documentation sent by users during registration. One of the main measures imposed by regulators and adopted by online casinos, refers to self-exclusion programs.

When the player feels the need to take a break from gambling, every licensed online casino offers an option called self-exclusion, which can be of two types. When a player chooses to temporarily self-exclude, the casino will lock the player's account for a period specified by the user and the player will not be able to make any transactions or play any games. After the self-exclusion period has expired, the player will be able to access the casino again without notification. In addition to temporary self-exclusion, there is also the possibility of permanent self-exclusion without a time limit. In this case, after six months from the blocking of the game account, the user can request his reinstatement on the platform by submitting a request for revocation in writing and attaching a valid identity document, which will be subjected to a double check. The objective of this tool is to recover a balanced attitude towards gambling, which focuses on fun without becoming an obsession or a financial problem.
